About BookVine
Our Mission
BookVine's goal is to help parents discover awesome, age appropriate books for their children quickly. 100% of all revenue from Amazon Affiliate purchases is donated to local educational non-profits in New Jersey.
Welcome
Hi, I'm Shravan
I'm a high school student from New Jersey and the creator of BookVine.io. My dad used to spend a lot of time finding what age-appropriate books I should read next. I wanted to alleviate this problem for others, so I created a website to help others find what books they want to read next quickly.
I organize books by age, series, genres, and awards, with links to your local county library and Amazon. I have read all books on this website, and every single review is written by me!
Resources
Library Integration
A special thanks to the King County Library System and Plainsboro Library for their awesome selection of books. Their incredible collections have been super helpful in enabling me to read so many books and build out BookVine's reviews.
"Online libraries are an underrated way of reading books (especially ebooks)."
The Journey
Building BookVine.io
I originally built BookVine using Webflow, which I learned through Webflow University. Developing this website took approximately 6 months with lots of guidance from my dad. This website has been live since 2021.
In 2026, we rebuilt the site using Astro for better performance and SEO. The v2 design of BookVine was inspired by pieterma.es — my dad spotted it on Hacker News, shared it with me, and we loved the clean layout. We adapted that aesthetic for a children's book discovery experience.

Looking Ahead
Future Vision
I aim to make BookVine an official nonprofit and donate books to underprivileged children in India. I have volunteered with Being Social to teach children from rural Indian slums how to read and write in English during COVID.
This experience has shown me how education can be their pathway out of poverty.
Giving Back
Volunteering Work
From 2020-2022, I volunteered with Being Social, teaching English, reading, writing, and math to children in rural slums of Bangalore, India.
