This is a series, full of adventure, fantasy, excitement, battles and magic. There are many more things as well. This is a great series. Don’t be put off because of the length of these books. They are super enjoyable, and they just flow by extremely quickly. This is an extremely popular series, and I highly recommend that you should read the series.
This series is about adventures through different lands, the creation of Narnia, the discovery by normal people, sailing to the edge of the world, and more. The series keeps your interest throughout, and the books describe the story, with so much detail and effort.
I can easily give this an age rating of 8+ because of how easy to understand and enjoy it is, despite the length. Also, the story itself is very well suited for younger readers. The size might be daunting, but you can split it up, and you will definitely enjoy reading the books in this series, engrossed by every aspect of the books. Because of this, I can easily rate this series 5 Stars.

Common Questions About The Chronicles of Narnia
What age is The Chronicles of Narnia appropriate for?
The Chronicles of Narnia is best for ages 8-10 (Grades 3rd-5th). Don't let the length put you off — they're super enjoyable and go by really quickly. The words are a bit old-fashioned since the books were written in the 1950s, but the adventures are so exciting that kids don't even notice. Great for reading aloud with 7-8 year olds too.
Should I read Narnia in publication or chronological order?
Publication order, starting with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. The Magician's Nephew is chronologically first but was written sixth — starting there is like watching a "making of" video before you've even seen the show. It spoils the magic of discovering Narnia for the first time. Start where C.S. Lewis started, and it just works better.
Should my child watch the Narnia movies or read the books first?
Have your kid read at least 2 or 3 books before watching the films. Narnia is one of those worlds that's so magical in your head — every kid imagines Aslan and the Wardrobe differently, and that's really special. The movies (Lion/Witch/Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, Dawn Treader) are well done but only cover 3 of the 7 stories. There's way more Narnia in the books, and reading first makes movie night even better.
How many Narnia books are there?
There are 7 books in The Chronicles of Narnia. Each book follows different characters and adventures in Narnia, with some characters showing up across multiple books. The series keeps your interest throughout — from the creation of Narnia to the very end.
The Chronicles of Narnia is recommended for ages 8 - 10 (Grades 3rd - 5th) with Lexile scores ranging from 790L to 970L.
